Novel Point Coffee's Latte Art Throwdown

Novel Point Coffee is back this spooky season with their second annual LATTE ART THROWDOWN! On October 19th, at 7 PM, join us at FUSION | The Cell for a ghost and ghoul themed competition!

This is a head-to-head competition with sixteen competitors and three-panel judges. There will be four rounds with each head-to-head match ending in an elimination. The final three competitors will receive a cash prize and some sweet merch!

Each competitor will have only one opportunity to pour the latte art design chosen for each round. While competitors will not be required to pull their own espresso shots, they will be required to steam their own milk and pour their design into a 10oz (300ml) bowl-shaped mug. Once the design is poured, competitors must place their mugs on the judges’ table for review.

There will also be an optional bonus round where competitors get to pour into a wacky-shaped “mug” of our choosing – mwah ha ha!

There are no disqualifications for spilled milk, but it may factor into the judges’ decisions. Whole milk will be used for all four rounds of competition!

Novel Point Coffee will be open for food and drinks from 6 PM to 7 PM. Alcohol will be available!

The competition begins Saturday, October 19th, at 7 PM! We ask competitors to arrive at least thirty minutes before the event for a quick briefing and get some latte art practice. Guests are welcome to arrive any time after 6 PM. The theme is Ghosts & Ghouls, so come in your spookiest costume!

1st place: $200 cash + merch
2nd place: $100 cash + merch
3rd place: $50 cash + merch

We are a team of three young, entrepreneurial coffee lovers just seeking to join Albuquerque in its pursuit of better tasting, more accessible coffee. One abandoned the structure & security of medical school to don the apron and salary of a career barista. Another slings ‘spro by night while tackling a full-time marketing career by day. The third simply wishes one of his many “investment ventures” will offset his love for vintage tees & sticker tattoos.

We consider ourselves vagabonds on a journey of discovery & insight. We venture through the unknowns of life with assurance in our purpose & identity all the while praying our single-origin, co-fermented, thermal shock, anaerobic natural gesha doesn’t get too cold to sip on before we can face the harsh realities of what it truly looks like to have work-life balance.

Fueled by an insatiable desire for exploration & discovery, yet consistently grounded by profound insight and anchored by our empathy towards others, this delicate balance between curiosity and compassion not only shapes our journey but also deepens our connections.
